Overabundance of Grace
The Lord has been teaching me to pray outside of time. To pray as if the following verse was true. That I am raised up with Christ seated in the heavenly places. If this is true, then I need to pray with the understanding of the immeasurable riches of his grace. There is nowhere that His grace cannot reach. Even outside of time.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2: 4-9, ESV)
He’s trying to get it through my thick skull that I need to pray as He called me to pray and in this season, it’s outside the constraints of time. Meaning I should not be concerned if He calls me to pray for a specific person or event that has already occurred.
Perhaps the Lord will grant me a vision and repetition of His message enough to write the fullness of what it is to pray outside of time. If and when He teaches me I will post it here.
•But not yet
One example of when He has asked me to pray outside of time is when He directed me to pray about the feeding of the 5,000. Not only the fish and bread eaten, but the provision of the baskets of leftovers.
He instructed me to pray for an increase in joy for not only those who received the food but also those who served this provision. For the completion of the miracle in each one’s heart. And for the witnesses to give glory to God and rightfully write about the events.
Overabundance of Grace
All this leads me to more questions. Which is what I believed He desired for me.
•What did they do with the collected bread and fish in the twelve baskets?
•Do you imagine they hid it away in reverence to the miracle, not the miracle worker?
•Or did they give it away at the next meal?
•Do we make our current level of provision sacred and not freely give from it?
•Do we hold on to it like we don’t expect another move of God?
I prayed into that moment of time while simultaneously praying into my and my husband’s current life and provision.
That they and we freely give with joy that bursts from our relationship with Christ in the deep knowledge that we serve a God of overabundance who delights in giving to His children. I believe the lessons He is teaching me may be one of the reasons He is having me pray outside of time.
•Have you ever prayed outside of the constraints of time?
•If so, to your knowledge, was it fruitful at least as much as you could know?
•I don’t advise you to pray outside of your current faith level or outside of God’s will for your prayer life. I’m just curious if others have been called to pray outside of time? Do you pray even if an event has already happened?
Prayer for you and me:
Lord Jesus, please direct our every move. Have us pray as You desire us to. Let it be Your words and not our own that we release. We want to look at our lives and our loved ones lives from Your perspective. We want to agree with Your overabundance of Grace. Thank You, Jesus’ Amen.
