Laundry fiasco
What started out as a simple step missed in the laundry process ended with a mess all over my house. Funny how one problem can spread like the plague.
I must have forgotten to check all the pockets of my family members before starting the laundry. That one missed item spread white gunky paper all over that load of laundry. My daughters and I (the boys were at work) had to take each individual piece of laundry and shake it out. This process sent chunks of soppy paper into our hair and all over the laundry room. I had to clean out the washing machine and the dryer. To my dismay, the paper chunks tracked all over the house into my living room and even upstairs.
One simple mistake: the double-checking of pockets created my laundry fiasco. It left me with hours of clean-up.
I think this can be true for our lives. One lie of the enemy that sneaks in when our defenses are down can produce years of work to rid ourselves of it. This lie can infiltrate all over within our hearts, minds, and bodies. Let us lift each other up in prayer to avoid this unnecessary pain and distraction from the joy of the Lord.
A lie that plagued me most of my life was the performance lie. If I couldn’t measure up to my impossible standard for myself, then I failed my children, God, and myself. This is a lie of the enemy. We were never holding God up, therefore, we could never let Him down. Ask the Lord if there are any lies that you have unknowingly been holding on to so that you might be set free. Let us kick out the lies of the enemy, clearing out room for the Truth of Jesus Christ.
“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1Peter 5:8, NASB)
Prayer for you and me: Lord Jesus, keep our hearts and minds diligent against the intrusion of the enemy. Grant us wisdom to know when we have agreed with the enemy instead of You. Draw us deeper into the abiding spot that You have provided for us. We praise You for the victory that God blesses us live in. Help us to acknowledge You in all things.
