Going Deeper
I saw a woman’s long brunette braid, and it looked perfect. Until I looked at the top portion closer to the scalp. It was entirely coming out of the braid.
The options were to shove it back in and use a pin, or start over from the beginning and re-do the braid.
I had a feeling of sadness and irritation and a strong desire to just go the easy route and push the rogue hair back into the braid.
“Don’t be afraid of starting over and slower. Put the braid right and it will feel so good and it will last all day. There won’t be a feeling of irritation or strife like a grain of sand in your shoe.”
You need to understand it’s okay to start at the foundation of your faith. It’s not going backward. Think of it as setting it right.”
You are allowed to flow with Me and not have it all figured out. Nobody does.
Even those farther along in the faith are flowing via the direction of the Holy Spirit. At any moment, I may require a shift in them as well. Just as you are being asked to shift your thinking. To go back to the foundation and go deeper in your understanding of your own identity and Mine.
Humans often think of progress as linear. A straight path that has a start and an end. The closer to the end is winning, and the closer to the beginning is losing.
Let me stretch your thinking to comprehend that your paths should be thought of not as linear, but as more of a spiral where you may appear to look like you are back at the beginning, but in fact, you are farther down the road. You are going deeper. By learning and expanding on a concept, you had previously only scratched the surface. It’s not going backward or forwards, but rather deeper.”
You are going deeper. This isn’t a time to feel discouraged but rather encouraged that God has you right where He wants you.
Do you feel you are in a time of being stretched or challenged? To ensure that your old ways of thinking die to allow for God’s eternal truths can be planted deeper within you.
“Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.” (Psalm 42:7, ESV)
Prayer for you and me: Lord Jesus, we desire to go deeper with you. We don’t want to just be scratching the surface. Only living on the edge of what You have for us. This world needs sold-out Christians willing to live the life Christ died for them to have. Teach us to always be going deeper with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
