There is no little love
I saw a barren, colorless world. As I continued to walk forward, I saw a golden trickle of a stream pouring over the top of a high plateau. An impossibly high wall loomed in front of me, and I knew that the molten gold flowing over it was necessary for life. The dam held back the golden flow, and I was anxious to understand how to get the dam to break and pour out what the people needed onto the land. It seemed an impossible task. I was left feeling hopeless. How could such a small trickle reach the vast area that I was seeing? So, I cried out to Him.
“You are seeing this wrong. My people do not live on the side of the barren land. They live in the golden, weighty flow of My goodness, provision and love. My people pour out this goodness everywhere they go in the world. The church should not hoard my goodness, but drink deeply of it until they are full and then leak it everywhere they go. Your job is to listen for my promptings and go where I send you.”
Tiny moments of attention, a smile, a simple touch, distributes the love and the light of God. It isn’t any one great act that demonstrates Him. The power is in the many tiny acts of His love.
We may believe that important decisions made during large board meetings create the biggest impact in the world. When in fact, in the kingdom of God, it’s those brief moments, that moment of direct eye contact, a look of love — these are the moments that alter history.
I then asked. “How do we ensure we don’t miss those vital encounters? How do we have enough of His life-giving love for others?”
“You don’t live in the parched land lacking life. You live in the overabundance of God. Don’t let what you see affect who I say you are and effect what I called you to do. Love people.”

There are times we forget this, and we feel hopeless and ineffective, as if our lives don’t matter. When, in fact, a single simple gesture that brings the love of God to the people we interact with is more than enough. The Lord can use the simplest of chance meetings to capture a person’s heart. We never know how important these little moments of love are for each person who the Lord gives us to encounter, both strangers and loved ones.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”—1 Peter 4:10.
This means we don’t have to be looking for a big event to demonstrate our love of God by loving others. We can pour out His grace that He gave us in the everyday workings of our lives.
There is no little love. Any love we demonstrate comes from Him who is love Himself. Don’t worry about flashy moments be present in the little moments. These are precious.
Don't walk away without giving away the love He's given you.
When we enter the room, we carry the Holy Spirit with us and He is more than enough to reach our loved ones and even the strangers we encounter in our daily lives. Trust that you don’t have to have it all together God can use you simply because you are present.
Prayer for you and me: Lord, help us order our days according to your great purposes. Help us live in the little moments and distribute your love everywhere that we go in Jesus’ name, amen.
