Consumed by Fear or Joy?

Consumed by Fear or Joy?

I saw a giant white pillar; it consumed my entire view. I moved my head to the left and right to be able to see all things were pulled toward it. Nothing escaped its gravitational pull. The debris flooded past me, a thundering stream so powerful it vibrated my entire being. I froze, in fear of being consumed.

“What is the meaning of what I see?”

“It is the vision of the verses Proverbs 1:7 and Isaiah 45:23. All scripture work together to bring Truth, encouragement, and direction for life. Heather, lesser things have stolen your attention from Me. Your busyness is a detriment to your life and hinders joy. The largest/most powerful thing in the room draws all attention to it. Make sure it is Me who possesses all of your awe and attention.”

Instantly I knew that all my worries and strife were not only in vain but were a great threat to my life. Even as I knew this, I also was greatly comforted knowing that He knew my needs greater than I did.

Where we put our attention is of great importance. It’s paramount we look around and pay attention to what consumes our time, interest, and conversation. Are our eyes turned toward worldly things that bring us further away from God, and demand fear of the future? I had found myself in a place where my fear for the future of my children and family consumed me. I had forgotten the power and might of my Savior, Christ. It is so easy to do. We continually need to ask are we consumed by fear or joy?

What are ways we can bring our focus back to Christ? Steering our lives so we are no longer consumed by fear but by joy. Should we do this daily?

“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.”  (Isaiah 45:22-23, NASB)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)

Prayer for you and me: Lord Jesus, our eyes are constantly pulled elsewhere. We desire to be focused on You. Increase our awe of the Lord, show us Your might and power. We bow our hearts to You to receive Your wisdom and guidance. You know us more than we know ourselves, teach us how to pray for our family and ourselves. Let our knees bow to You now in willing surrender of our lives. Thank You, Jesus’ Amen
