Breakthrough! Iceberg ahead!
I saw a giant dark-grey ship, its bulk impressive, trudging slowly forward.
An earth-shattering noise added to my awe as the ice-breaking ship crashed through the frozen water.
Waves of joy at the breakthrough made me giddy. “What a sight to see.”
Then suddenly I was hit with a wave of despair. It took only a moment to see the source people clinging to the broken ice, terrified for their lives. While those on the ship rejoiced at the breakthrough. Those that clung to the old unrighteous way of thinking were left desperate. Believing that their lives were in immediate danger, with nothing of substance to cling to.

It’s important not to ridicule those who have been duped by the world into false beliefs and false Christs’. Such as the government and their attempts at providing safety or stability. Or the false religions of their ancestors.
As their worldly beliefs crumble, they will need a solid foundation. A Savior to rescue them. Do not jump into the water. Nor ignore their pleas but instead throw them a life-preserver, the Lord Jesus Christ. Let the great redeemer heal their wounds and tell their terrors to be still.
Allow your kindness to draw them in.

Don’t be tempted to say I told you so because you have spent so much time trying to help them see the truth. When they refused to consider another way despite all the evidence to the truth.
But we must remember we were once utterly lost, desperate for a Savior. We once put our trust in the world, just like they are.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”” (Lamentations 3:22-24, ESV)
We can choose to gently show them they are loved and never was there a time when the Lord did not see, know, and love them. They never need to feel desperate and lonely again. Christ is more than enough for their every need.
I can remember times in my life feeling like the one clinging to the iceberg. Totally flabbergasted that other people were at peace.
When we demonstrate peace that passes human understanding during these times of turmoil and change, it leaves other people wondering what we have that they don’t. This is a perfect opportunity to point to Christ.
“Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].” (Philippians 4:5-7)
Thank You for the breakthrough!
Prayer for you and me: Thank You, Jesus, that You found us. That you minister to us and drew us in with Your gentle kindness. Let us respond with love and care for all those who are lost. All those who once persecuted us and know seek the Truth. We praise You that You are the way and the truth and the life. And we praise You that You are the God of breathrough. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
